She retired from nursing in 2014 and has enjoyed traveling and spending more time with her daughter's families which includes six grandchildren.
Her love for teaching and working with young parents is what has brought her out of retirement and back to the classroom. The goal for her classes is to provide a relaxed environment for learning incorporating written materials, video, and demonstrations designed to empower parents to feel confident as they stand on the threshold of parenthood.

Paula Basden

Instructor

Paula Basden  is a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in maternity care. A graduate of Baylor University with a BSN in nursing,  she has worked in all aspects of obstetrical nursing -  as a staff nurse in labor and delivery units, working in OB offices, and as a childbirth educator.  She has worked with the physicians of Hill Country OB for over 10 years.

Her love of obstetrical nursing and fun teaching style combine to make her  classes extremely popular.  Couples that attend her class report feeling well prepared for the adventure of childbirth and the care of their newborn.

Paula has a strong  belief that childbirth can be one of the most amazing days of a mom and dad's life and is grateful to be a part of her patient's journey to parenthood.   She has three boys of her own.
