Instructor

 Paula Basden  is a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in maternity care. A graduate of Baylor University with a BSN in nursing,  she has worked in all aspects of obstetrical nursing -  as a staff nurse in labor and delivery units, working in OB offices, and as a childbirth educator.  She has worked with the physicians of Hill Country OB for over 10 years.

Her love of obstetrical nursing and fun teaching style combine to make her  classes extremely popular.  Couples that attend her class report feeling well prepared for the adventure of childbirth and the care of their newborn.

Paula has a strong  belief that childbirth can be one of the most amazing days of a mom and dad's life and is grateful to be a part of her patient's journey to parenthood.   She has three boys of her own.
 

 Instructor

Susan Ourston RN MSN has over 23 years in obstetrical and neonatal nursing. She received her BSN from University of Southwestern Louisiana and her MSN from University of Texas here in Austin.  From the beside as a labor nurse to the board room Susan has worked with multiple OBs, Midwives, Pediatricians and Neonatologists partnering for the highest quality and evidenced based practices to keep moms and babies safe.  

Susan sees her primary role as advocate, teacher and mentor.  She believes every patient and family deserve person centered care , delivered with a very personal and human touch.

Helping couples to prepare for the most amazing adventure of their life is a privilege and gift. Making it fun and keeping it real make her classes very popular.  Couples that attend her class feel reassured and empowered to be ready and able manage labor and delivery, recovery, self care and the care of the new little human they brought into the world.  Susan has boy/girl twins of her own.
